Perception is one of the biggest factors that leaves us to succeed or fail, be happy or miserable, to enjoy life or not, to find a purpose or to abandon our dreams – our path.  How we perceive our environment, surroundings, the way people communicate with us, it’s going to influence our decisions and ultimately our lives minute by minute, on a daily basis.

It wasn’t until recently that I was introduced to the concept of self analysis, finding your purpose, and loving one’s-self.  Like many out there, I was not taught about these concepts in depth while growing up. I was taught to read and write, to believe in God, to add, subtract, multiply and divide, history, hygiene, sports, to obey and respect my elders.  I was taught to follow the crowd, go with the flow, be good and obedient.  I carried those imprints with me throughout my young adult life.  It wasn’t until my late twenties that I began to feel that much was missing from my life, that there had to be so much more out there and I began to question myself.  Today, I wonder why the older generations were so complacent. Why didn’t my parents, who I know were aware of these concepts, teach them to me? Is this a common thing to overlook? Were my elders aware of it but did not think I could handle it?

Our society does not typically encourage children or young adults to deeply and truly think about who they are and what our purpose is in life.  They teach you to think in a superficial way.  But then again, I know that we are not all the same and most definitely we do not view life exactly the same either. For example, three individuals can witness the exact same incident, but each one of those individuals will tell a completely different description of events.  It could be the angle where they were positioned, the layout of the area, who was standing next to them, any factor including their thoughts at the time, and anyone or anything they would have come in contact with prior to the incident – it would all have an impact on their individual experience.  So, knowing this, helps me understand that there may be many of you that may have grown up knowing and understanding your purpose and what needed to be done to get where you desired to be; but I also know from my experiences with people that this is not the case for many others who, like me, had been living in darkness, caught up in the daily routine, the day-to-day rush to get nowhere.

Now, just because we have not been taught something or just because our friends and family are not aware or acknowledge specific ideas, thoughts or basic life needs, does not mean we should continue in the path to nowhere.  It does not mean we should continue being ignorant to what our mind and body is craving.  If you are seeking or searching for something – an unknown feeling within you keeps knocking, do not give up.  Look for ways to learn about yourself, your inner being, learn what others have done to find themselves and practice those things, until you find what works for you.  Search your inner being and learn what makes you tick, what makes you live to the fullest and add more of that to your daily life – that’s part of discovering your purpose.

This is why Reveal The Journey has come to fruition.  In an attempt to share and explore the human side of life and the journey we travel.
